Three weeks to go 'til the LA Marathon and I've completed less than 50% of my training mileage. Not bragging, more like panicking. My last long run was 20 miles and I felt pretty good during/after it so here’s to hoping I’ll feel the same on race day..

I try my best to lead an active, fitspo life but if I'm honest with myself, most of the times I'm really frickin' lazy. And it doesn't help that it's winter. Yes, I know I really should not complain given I live in LA where there are hardly any seasonal changes, but it still gets dark! And if I’m REALLY honest, the only reason I signed up for the LA Marathon was so I could snag an extra medal for running the SoCal Ragnar last year. I like shiny things.. don’t judge. But regardless of why I’m doing the race, I'm going through with it and determined to finish with a (somewhat) decent time.
All of my runs are tapering down at this point, which is good because it means less running, but bad because it means the LA Marathon is so SOON! I’ve also been adding in Orangetheory Fitness work outs three times a week so I think I’m physically ready…it’s just a matter of mentally prepping myself.

What I do love about race day is the anticipation leading up to that morning. Picking your race outfit, putting together your perfect playlist, thinking about the poses you’ll ambush the race photographers with, and sleeping by 7PM the night before!

Also, the fact that this is my first LA Marathon is pretty exciting. To date, all of my marathons have been in the bay area, except for the Long Beach Marathon, but that doesn’t really count as Los Angeles. It’ll be cool to pass through all of the iconic LA spots and be able to officially run my city.

Are you running the LA Marathon too? What are your fave pre-race rituals?
