Soo, almost three months ago I pulled the trigger and signed up for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. I’ve thought about transitioning from marathons to triathlons for some time now but never acted on it.. as most of you know I lack serious biking and swimming abilities. But I finally made the commitment (and am holding myself accountable since I’m making it public now) and will compete the Malibu Triathlon classic course on September 20th, 2015.
The classic distance features a half-mile ocean swim, an 18 mile out-and-back bike course, and a 4-mile out-and-back run course — I’ve only swam in the ocean once and ridden a bike twice. I know, I have some work to do. For the next month I’ll be teaching myself how to swim (thanks Tim Ferriss and Terry Laughlin) and my official training schedule will begin June 29th. This is an entirely new experience for me and it brings back the memories of when I started training for my first marathon. It’s exciting, nerve-racking and nauseating all at the same time. I think I may explode..
ANYWAY. If you’re new to this as well feel free to follow my journey through #ElleTRIs. Or if you’re a pro and have tips to offer this noob, please save me - aka, leave a comment or email me :)
